Embracing What Counts: Professional Learning Series for Educators, Recognizing Anxiety and Depression in Young Children with Molly Pope
No one likes to think of young children as being anxious or depressed and yet, children experience a wide range of emotions and bring them to school every day. The pandemic has shifted experiences and supports that families are typically able to access. This leaves children and families vulnerable. Young children won’t come out and say, “I’m struggling, can you help?” Instead, they act out in challenging ways. As educators, how do we address and support the child while staying curious about what’s underneath the behavior?
This Professional Learning Opportunity Will Explore:
Recognizing signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety in young children
Understanding healthy struggles vs. unhealthy struggles
Owning our own feelings that get stirred by this topic
Partnering with parents around their children and these challenges
Identifying classroom strategies that teach and support children
Programming facilitated by Molly Pope, Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, Parent Coach, and Speaker and Trainer.
