SESSION 1: The Yes Brain, Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D.
August 4, 2020 at 10:30am-12:00pm CDT
Educators have the power to foster their students' ability to say yes to the world and welcome all that life has to offer, even during difficult times like our current pandemic. Children can be taught to approach life with openness and curiosity. This is what it means to cultivate a Yes Brain, and it leads to the characteristics we want to nurture: openness, emotional regulation, resilience, personal insight, creativity, and empathy. In this presentation based on her book The Yes Brain (co-authored with Dr. Dan Siegel), Dr. Tina Payne Bryson will discuss ways to encourage in children this positive, engaged approach to life. Using her trademark warmth and humor, she will discuss specific strategies educators can use to create Yes Brain opportunities, focusing on ways we can help children thrive—both now and as they grow into adulthood.
