Sharing a Love for Animals

Let’s Play! is The Alliance for Early Childhood’s Ongoing Community Program, inviting families to engage and interact with their children in child-directed, creative, free play. We are grateful to share our vision in partnership with Ronald Knox Montessori School.  Check out their Let’s Play! Ongoing Community Program Event that they are hosting below.

Parents can unplug and connect with their children through our hands on activity – Animal Quest –A Guide to Animal Habitats. Parents can experience their child’s love for learning by observing their child’s joy through problem solving, decision making and evaluating in our child-directed activity, allowing them to follow their instincts for inquiry and discovery.  Parents can apply this approach to any concept by providing enriching experiences for their children at home. All the children need are the resources. What a great way to unplug and connect as a family!

Intended Age Audience: 3-5 years

According to early childhood teacher and environmental education advocate, Mary S. Rivkin, Ph.D., because younger children learn through sensory and physical activity, the more varied and rich the natural setting, the greater its contribution to the physical, cognitive and emotional development of the whole child.  In this session, children will have the opportunity to engage in both open-ended and guided nature-play experiences that will tap into the power and excitement of the outdoors through observation, wondering, and kinesthetic learning. We will also showcase how outdoor materials can playfully breathe new life indoors.

Intended Age Audience: 5-8 years
