Community Screening of Chasing Childhood, Virtual Screening Window: February 24-March 3

Join The Alliance for Early Childhood and The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 in a virtual screening of Chasing Childhood.

Chasing Childhood is a feature length documentary that explores how free play and independence have all but disappeared from kids’ lives, supplanted by relentless perfectionism and record high anxiety and depression.

What’s lost goes well beyond our idyllic conceptions of childhood past. Free play, unsupervised by adults, is critical for developing essential life skills: grit, independence, and resourcefulness. Many young adults appear more accomplished on paper, but by the time they get to college they are struggling, and lacking the emotional tools to be more independent.

Free Screening of No Small Matter and Town Hall

It's time to talk about early childhood. America’s early learning infrastructure was fragile even before COVID-19. But the pandemic has pushed it to the brink of collapse, and it has become self-evident that early education is essential to our country. No Small Matter will be screened nationwide to say thank you to America's early educators, and discuss the way forward for our country's providers and families in this time of crisis.

The Alliance is proud to have hosted this film to our community of educators at our 30th Annual Networking Dinner and to parents this past fall. If you haven't seen it yet, we encourage you to RSVP for this critical, timely conversation:  http://www.nosmallmatter.com/june25  #nosmallmatter
